As an attorney at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, LLP, specializing in clients affected by data breaches and cyber-attacks, Allen O'Rourke counsels clients' legal and information security teams on investigating and remediating a breach, interfacing with law enforcement and ensuring compliance with applicable data breach laws and regulations. In addition to incident response, O'Rourke defends clients facing government, regulatory and consumer class actions as well as other litigation arising from data breaches. Prior to joining Womble Carlyle, O'Rourke was a Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property (CHIP) prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. He conducted numerous investigations into corporate data breaches, business email compromise schemes, "dark web" criminal forums, money laundering using Bitcoin, terrorist use of the Internet, and other cybercrime. After graduating from Harvard Law School in 2008, O'Rourke clerked for the Honorable Anita Brody on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and for the Honorable Allyson Duncan on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
