How to Consume Threat Intelligence

Joseph Blankenship of Solutionary on Threat Response
How to Consume Threat Intelligence

There's no end to the discussion over threat intelligence in the information security industry, and by customers. But actually consuming data and feeds that relate to threat information remains difficult, as does attempting to react to it in an automated fashion. As a result, says Joseph Blankenship, director of marketing at managed security services provider Solutionary, his firm often dedicates a security analyst to create tailored threat feeds for individual enterprise customers.

In an interview at the RSA Conference 2015, Blankenship also discusses:

  • Threat intelligence: The promise, versus today's reality;
  • How Solutionary taps threat intelligence and provides feeds for its customers;
  • The future of threat intelligence, and how better machine learning and artificial intelligence should enable more automated consumption and use of such information.

Blankenship is director of marketing at Solutionary, an NTT Group security company. Previously, he was director of product marketing for anti-virus vendor McAfee, director of marketing for information security consulting firm Vigilar, and a marketing manager for IBM Internet Security Systems. He's also worked for Sprint Nextel, Philips Electronics and KPMG Peat Marwick.
