User behavioral analytics can help better detect indicators of potential threats, both external and internal, says Carl Leonard, principal security analyst at Forcepoint.

"Much of what we're seeing from business leaders is that they want to try a new approach that is not threat-centric but instead looks at the behavior of ... malware and of insiders," he says in an interview with Information Security Media Group.

Leonard offers a vision of next-generation security: "Imagine a system where the behavioral analytics spots that something is unusual and malicious so we can adjust the protection mechanism policies in real time to protect the data. That's really the future of threat protection."

In this interview (see audio link below photo) Leonard discusses:

At Forcepoint, Leonard is responsible for enhancing threat protection and threat monitoring technologies in collaboration with the company's global security labs team. He advises customers on the state of the threat landscape and how to enhance their security posture.
